To update or verify the settings for an Outlook Express IMAP account on vmail01.peak.org,
startup Outlook and go to Tools/Accounts:
Click on the Mail tab, and then Properties:
In the Properties window, click on the Server tab:
- Incoming mail (IMAP)

This should be set to vmail01.peak.org unless otherwise directed by
Peak Support.
- Outgoing mail (SMTP)

Likewise, this also should be set to vmail01.peak.org unless otherwise
directed by Peak Support.
- Account name

Your actual mailbox email address. Note that this may not be the
email address you actually use, in particular, if you have a private domain
address forwarded to one of the Peak owned domains. If you're not sure,
our support people can clarify the situation for you.
- Password
-
We recommend that you leave this blank and leave "Remember password" unchecked:
it's more secure, as otherwise anyone with access to your box can read your
email, and probably more importantly, entering your password every time helps
you remember it.
- Log on using Secure Password Authentication

This is a different way of securing your mail connections, and should be left
unchecked here. We use SSL to secure connections instead.
- My server requires authentication

This should be checked
Next, click on Settings for the Outgoing Mail Server and make sure "Use same settings"
is checked, then click OK to return to this window:
Lastly, click on the Advanced tab:
- Server Port Numbers/Outgoing mail

Identifies the outgoing mail service: it must be 465 for secure connections,
which vmail01 requires, in order to protect your password.
Note: When you check This server requires a secure connection,
Outlook will set the port back to 25 for some reason, so you'll need to make
the change to 465 after checking the box.
- Server Port Numbers/Incoming mail

Likewise, this identifies the incoming mail service: for secure IMAP connections,
it must be 993, required, as above, in order to protect your password.
That's pretty much it as far as the settings needed for talking to the Peak mail server
are concerned --- click OK back to the main Outlook window and you're all set!
