Resetting Your Broadband Modem

The Reset button on your Broadband modem should only be used as a last resort, and on the recommendation of a PEAK Technical Support representative. In most cases, using the paperclip pinhole will remove all settings from your Broadband modem.

Most “ClearAccess” and “SmartRG” modems are capable of automatically retrieving their settings (This does not include “BEC,” “StarSmart,” “Forcecom,” “ActionTec,” “Xoom,” “Zyxel,” and many other styles of modems). Should you need to use the reset button, below are the steps for doing so correctly:

1. Unplug the power cord on your Broadband modem.
2. Insert a paperclip or something else that fits into the small reset hole in the back. Keep the reset button pressed down.
3. While holding in the reset button plug the power back in. Continue holding the reset button for 6 more seconds (do not hold more than 6 seconds).
4. Allow modem 10-15 minutes for the ClearAccess or SmartRG modem to reconfigure itself. You will see a solid DSL light and a solid “internet” or “tx/rx” when a modem is properly configured and connected to the internet.

It is always a good idea to speak with PEAK Technical Support before trying this process. Call 541-754-7325 with any questions regarding your Internet service.
